US Government Shutdown Likely to Affect US Importations | October 1st, 2025 1:01 EST

October 1, 2025

With the potential US government shutdown beginning at 12:01 ET, October 1, 2025, US importers and exporters need to be mindful of the impact it could have on the government's timeline for processing imports and exports into the US.

Who will this affect? Every shipment entering the US that requires acceptance from US Customs and Border Protection and/or a Partner Government Agency, regardless of the customs broker.

What does this mean? PCB can receive and submit your shipment release request to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and any applicable PGAs, but we are unlikely to see regular processing times and/or may not be able to obtain release on the Import of Records' behalf.

What do I need to do? Submit your documents as per usual. Please ensure we have received your shipment documentation by entering your Shipment Control number into the Shipment Status Lookup to learn the most up-to-date status. To receive a text message the moment your shipment is accepted for entry, enter the desired phone number or email address in the 'Receive Notifications at' field. If you require assistance enabling this feature, please note we are available 24/7 to help you.

PCB will continue to watch this shutdown closely and update this notice as required.
