US Implements New Tariff Changes with Switzerland/Liechtenstein

December 23, 2025

On December 17, 2025, the US Government published a notice detailing the reduction of reciprocal tariffs for goods from Switzerland and Liechtenstein retroactive to November 14, 2025.

Beginning retroactively on November 14, 2025, goods entering the US will now apply either the normal Column 1/Most Favored Nation (MFN) duty rate or a flat 15% tariff - whichever is higher - on most goods.

Specific goods may also see adjusted tariff levels, including:

  • Unavailable natural resources
  • Aircraft and aircraft parts
  • Generic pharmaceuticals
  • Ingredient chemicals

And others which could potentially be exempted entirely, as detailed in the Potential Tariff Adjustments for Aligned Partners (PTAAP) Annex

These changes are predicated on the understanding that the ‘Agreement on Fair, Balanced, and Reciprocal Trade’ will be successfully negotiated in the first quarter of 2026. If not, these details may be changed by the US Government as necessary.

For more information, changes to Annexes 1 and 2 can be found in the Federal Notice here.
