US to Impose Additional 40% Tariff on Brazilian Imports

August 8, 2025

Announced on July 30th, the US Government is set to implement a new IEEPA tariff of 40% on most goods coming from Brazil beginning on August 6th, on or after 12:01 ET.

This new rate is on top of the reciprocal 10% tariff already in place, which means most Brazilian products will now face a total of 50% when entering the U.S.

Through an executive order, the US Government detailed the nature of this tariff along with several exceptions, including goods in transit prior to this EO coming into effect, goods subject to section 232 actions (such as steel, aluminum, auto parts, and copper), and a separate annex of goods.

The executive order detailing the new tariffs can be found here. The annex of exception goods can be found at the bottom of that document.

A fact sheet discussing the details of these tariffs can be found here.
