CBP Announces Increase In Merchandise Processing Fee

The Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) is a user fee US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) charges in addition to US Customs Duty and is set at 0.3464% of the entered value of the shipment. This rate will not be changing. However, this user fee carries a minimum and maximum amount depending on the entered value of the shipment.

Effective October 1, 2019 those rates will be changing as outlined below:

  • Minimum MPF on informal entries (shipments valued under $2,500 USD) will increase from $2.10 to $2.14.
  • Minimum MPF on formal entries (shipments valued over $2,500 USD) will increase form $26.22 to $26.79.
  • Maximum MPF on a formal entry will increase from $508.70 to $519.76.
